Permachem™ Materials

Permachem™ materials are a wide range of specialty ultra-high-performance engineering plastics for use as sealing materials. Most of these materials were specially developed to meet the unique needs of a specific industry or application. Although in many cases a Permachem grade has allowed our customers to make new developments, the vast majority of Permachem grades were actually developed to simply extend seal service life to periods that were long beyond the current norm.

AHPSeals Proprietary MaterialMaterial PropertiesApplications
Permachem 4200High-performance engineered thermoplastic with excellent tolerance for high temperatures, and provides low wear and superb chemical properties.

FDA compliant.
Used as an anti-extrusion ring material or back-up ring where a high modulus polymer is required to resist high pressures or loads.
Permachem 5600A proprietary polymeric alloy capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures up to 430°F.
This material has excellent tolerance dimensional stability over its temperature range.
It is used as an anti-extrusion ring or bushing where high pressure occurs at elevated temperatures. It is traditionally used as a high-pressure back-up ring material on HPHT seals.
Permachem 5800Permachem 5800 is a proprietary polymeric alloy capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures up to 750°F. It is used as an anti-extrusion ring or bushing where high pressure occurs at elevated temperatures. It is traditionally used as a high-pressure back-up ring material on HPHT seals.

FDA compliant.
For use as a seal material for rotary and linear seals for food, medical and pharmaceutical applications, as well as a good choice for vacuum pumps.

Important Note: Maximum/minimum temperatures and other operating limits listed on this website or otherwise provided by American High Performance Seals can vary greatly depending on seal configuration, media, operating temperatures, pressures, surface speed, dynamic running surface finish and working environment.  Seals cannot be operated at their upper pressure, speed and/or temperature ratings at the same time. For longer seal life expectancy, do not operate your seal beyond 75% of any of its operating limits.
